  1. I liked the book Takedown by Rich Wallace. It’s about a kid named Jason and his friend Manny. They joined the Hudson hornets wrestling team. They said in the book the first practice was brutal. Then the next day they were wrestling each other, and Jason was paired up with a varsity wrestler. He said that every five seconds, he would get pinned. That happened every practice up to his first meet. After the first period, he was winning, but in the third the guy he was up against came from behind and won. The same thing happened at the second meet. He almost got on varsity; he won against Manny but lost against the varsity guy. In his third meet, he was winning after the first and the second periods. He is winning and ends up winning his match. If you want more information, read the book.

  2. I like the book Batter Up, by Jake Maddox because he has a magic baseball bat. He uses it for a game winning home run and one of the coaches from the other team wants to take the bat to check if there’s any “cork” in the bat. There is none, but the catcher from the other team steals it and puts cork in it. He takes it to the game and when Brian gets there his bat is in the dugout and when Brain hits with it the bat brakes and cork flies everywhere. If you like sports books you should read this book.

  3. A book I recommend is Gym Candy by Carl Deuker. It’s about a guy named Mick and he plays football. He has trouble with steroids and trouble keeping his friends. I enjoyed some of the football scenes. If you like football, I recommend you read this book.

  4. If you do not have a book, you should read High Heat. It is about a closer pitcher who can pitch a 98 mph fastball. He is very poor. Do not read this book if you do not know a lot about baseball, or you will get lost reading this book. The author is Carl Deuker.

  5. I like the book Travel Team by Mike Lupica; it is about a boy named Danny Walker. Danny gets cut from his local travel basket ball team because the coaches said he was too small. In this book Danny and his dad start a new travel team for anyone. One part in the book is when Danny’s dad gets in car wreck and Danny has to be the coach. I like this book because Danny did not give up.

  6. If you love football and have a passion for it, then you would want to read this book by Carl Dueker. This story Gym Candy is about a boy named Mick Johnson. When he was a young boy he fell in love with football. As he grew older he became a star football player. But as he played he discovered something that would make him even better. His decision to use this leads him to change and to become different. If you read this book you will feel the intensity and emotion of the characters. If you love football you will love this book.

  7. I think the book Center Court Sting by Matt Christopher is a very good book. If I could choose a friend or two out of the book, I would probably choose Darren and Lynn. I would choose them because they are always there for each other, no matter what happens. Also, all the other kids scream and holler at each other. I would choose Darren and Lynn because they are both good at basketball. Center Court Sting is a great book for all sports fans.

  8. Do you like volleyball? Then you’ll love Spike It by Matt Christopher! It is a love/hate book. Let me tell you more about it. Spike It is about a girl who plays volleyball, and her father got married without telling her, so she gets a new sister and does not really like her. The step sister also joins the volleyball team. They eventually get along and throw each other a party. It is a great and funny book. I hope you like it just as much as I did. Well, I hope you try Spike it and don’t be afraid to try out for your own schools volleyball team too.

  9. My blog is about my favorite book I’ve read this year. My favorite book I’ve read this year is called Satch & Me. This book is a sports book. The main characters are Satch, Stosh, and Flip. In this book Flip is Stosh’s baseball coach and Flip also runs a store. Stosh can travel through time. Stosh decides to take Flip with him this time so they can track down the world’s fastest pitcher. They used a radar gun to track the speed of the ball. They go back to the 1940s and land in South Carolina. When they get there they realize Satch will come by there sometime today to head to the World Series in Pittsburg. So they start to hitch- hike down the road to look for him. If you like sports books written by Dan Gutman I’m sure you would like this book too.

  10. Tough to Tackle by: Matt Christopher

  11. Beanball by Gene Fehler

Have you ever gotten hit in the face with a baseball? Well Luke Wallace has.
In the novel Beanball Luke “Wizard” Wallace gets beaned in the face while batting in the baseball game against the Compton team. After the long wait in the Intense care unit, Luke and his family were told that Luke wouldn’t have sight in his left eye. With Luke’s dreams of becoming a famous sports star crushed, He discoveres something he has never even heard of.

Luke “Wizard” Wallace has many difficulties in this novel but if you’re a baseball fan or not, I recommend this book if you are into a Thrilling book full of excitment and suprises.

  12. Tough to Tackle by: Matt Christipher

How would you feel if you wanted to play quarterback, but you were to big and you had to play lineman? Well Boots Raymond has this problem in the book Though to Tackle. He has to fight through playing a position he hates and the fact that his brother is away at war in Vietnam. One week his brother stopped mailing letters. This made them worried. They got a call from the post office saying that there was a letter for them on the day of Boots game day. Is it about his brother or is it from him? Will his brother be alive? Book to find out!

  13. Catch That Pass by Matt Christopher

This book is about a star football player with one problem he is scared to get tackled. Jim the main charecter, plays middle line backer and is the hardest hitter on the team. He can’t inercept the ball because he is afraid of getting hit and its costing them games. Jim works on his fear throughout the season, with an angery team and a disappointed brother (coach) as his motivation. Someone else is willing to step up and help Jim though. This is a good book for anyone who likes sports, and wants a book that is fast-paced and starts you right in the action.

  14. Tough To Tackle by Matt Christopher.

Have you ever wanted to one thing and someone told you that you couldn’t. Well thats what happend to Boots Raymond in Tough to tackle. Boots wanted to play qarterback but the coach told him he was to big, so Boots played tackle instead. He doesn’t like tackle and almost decides to quit. 15. The Diamond Champs By,Matt Christopher
This book was an all-around okay book. The parts i liked the most about the book were the characters. The characters included boys and girls, which to me is unique for a sports book. There were also parts of the book that didn’t make much sense to me. The beginning of the story starts off a little confusing, but after the second chapter I started to the plot and from there on out the book was a definte cliff-hanger.
My favorite part in this book was how their coach was the mysterious type, which led to curiosity from hi players on what kind of person he really was. The kid in this story i would probaly get along with the most would probaly be Eric because we relate in a way. For example Eric is the kind of kid that has a lot of pressure compared to most of his teammates. All in all i’ve read a lot of Matt Christopher books and each book is alike in a way. Like there is always an individual or group trying to reach some sort of goal. Either it’s a championship or personal stats-all sports books are related

  16. If you like thrilling, bonerattling experiance, then you will love Crossover by Jeff Rud. It is a sports book about basketball and what all Kyle Evans has to deal with in life. Its not all about sports tho; it has some other school activites. There is also a bulley named Stillman that ends up suspended from school. I really don’t like reading, but now i want to read more. So, if you liek what i told you so far then read more! It’s a great book!

  17. I liked the book Stumptown Kid by Carol Gorman. It had a lot of action. The book starts with the main character, Charlie, gets cut from the baseball team. Then he meets a former baseball player named Luther. Luther helps Charlie get better. Then Charlie and all the other kids that got cut form their own team and Luther is the coach. What they dont know is that Luther has a secret that puts him in danger. If you like sports books then you should read the book Stumptown Kid.

  18. The book Go Long is a book about Tiki and Ronde Barber. They are now in the NFL.I like this book a lot because there are a lot of ups and downs. In the beginning the team gets a new coach. The team starts the year with a 0-2 record. From that you will have to read on.The second book in this series is called Kickoff and I can’t wait to read it.

  19. I read Toby Wheeler Eighth-Grade Benchwarmer because I like sports fiction and also because it reminds me of another book I read, Heat. They have to overcome problems of playing baseball in a different country they haven’t been in before and it was illegal. As you can guess, Toby Wheeler has problems.

  20. In the book Two-Minute Drill 6th-grader Scott Parry is getting used to his new school. Being new is tough, especially when you`re the shyest person ever. Scott moves a lot because his dad is a salesman. When Scott meets someoe who loves football as much as he does, they bacome friends. Scott had two big secrets. Ones cool, ones bad. Whats cool is he has his own football field, what`s bad is he is not good at football at all. Besides one thing he can kick. When he discovers something about his new coach it makes it hard for him to get any time on the field. Until the final 30 seconds of the last game.
