  1. The Art of Keeping Cool by Janet Taylor Lisle
Keeping Cool in World War II
Who knew that keeping cool was an art? Robert Saunders has a lot of trouble with this art, especially when his father is a pilot in World War II, and he and his mother and sister, Carolyn, are forced to move in with his grandparents in Rhode Island. Robert’s Aunt Nan, and Uncle Jake, and strange and somewhat annoying cousin, Elliot, also live with his Grandma and Grandpa Saunders. In the household, there is a secret that Robert is dying to know.
This book is by far my personal favorite. Janet Taylor Lisle helps the reader to imagine and mentally picture every little problem Robert faces, whether it is with his Grandpa, or Elliot. In The Art of Keeping Cool, Robert finally learns about the secret that his family has been keeping from him, and it’s a big surprise. A surprise that Robert might have expected from his grandpa. But the way that Elliot tells, (shows) Robert, makes him not want to believe what he is seeing. This is the best historical fiction novel I have ever read. Whether a person lover this genre or not he or she will enjoy this book.

  2. I love the book Cracker by Cynthia Kadohata. It’s a great book about a dog named Cracker who has to leave her owner, Willie, to go to Vietnam to become a scout dog. But Cracker doesn’t get along to well with the new people swarming around her until she meets her new handler, Rick. They don’t get along at first, but they soon become great friends. This is a great book for people who like dogs, suspense, and great tales of friendship!

  3. One of my favorite books that I have read is Just for You to Know, by Cheryl Harness. This book is definitely a good read. Just for You to Know is about a thirteen year old girl named Carmen and her huge mess of a family. She has six brothers, a mom, and a dad. This family moves around a lot, so on their next move Carmen finds out that her mom is pregnant again! This story takes place in the 60’s in a small town in Missouri. There she finds friends and a huge, life changing challenge. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes drama and historical fiction.

  4. I just recently finished reading the book The Journal of Rufus Rowe by Sid Hite. A friend that I would have in this book would be rufus because he’s always helpful, nice, caring, and funny. my favorite part of the book was when the yanks and the rebels were fighting and the yanks surrendered. There weren’t any characters that I disliked in the book because everyone was nice, nobody was rude, and they all were fighting for a reason. This novel was pretty good. If you like action books, this is the best one to choose. The characters in this book are very different. Each and every character, in this book, have very different personalities.

  5. Air Raid-Pearl Harbor by Thodore Taylor

Air Raid is a pretty exciting book. The book talks about the plot to bomb Pearl Harbor and talks about the spy from Japan, also talks about both sides of the battle. You get to hear both U.S and Japanese side of the battle. This is a good book to read, if you want to know more about that battle.

  6. Soldiers Heart by Gary Paulsen.
I just read the book Soldier’s Heart by Gary Paulsen.
It was AWESOME! Charley and I would get along nicely.
He thinks a lot like I do. My favorite part in the book is Bull Run. A man’s head was taken off by a cannonball. I liked all of the characters. All were brave in battle. If you like bloody books, then this is the book for you. The author really tells you the way of soldier life. Every single soldier fought well in all the battles.
